Self-Employed Immigration

A Self Employed immigrant must prove that he or she has "relevant experience", and has the intention and ability to be self employed in Canada, and to make a significant contribution to "specified economic activities" in Canada. Self Employed immigrants must also be assessed at least 35 points on the Self Employed Assessment Grid

Some examples of Self Employed immigrants would be:  artists; actors; professional athletes; musicians; and Farmers.

"Relevant Experience" means at least 2 years experience in:

  1.  Self employment in cultural activities or in athletics;
  2.   Participation at a world class level in cultural activities or athletics; or
  3.   Farm management experience.

"Specified economic activities" means cultural activities, athletics or the purchase and management of a farm.
